Each year The Fashion and Design Society at UC Davis puts on a fashion show for Picnic Day. This year as the graphic designer I designed and branded the Fashion Show.

Process

Mood Board

Color Palette

The poster design was the next step. I wanted to design around the ideas accumulated from the mood board as well as the overall theme.

The theme “Laced in Reverie” is based on the film Labyrinth (1986). So I wanted to have the poster feel dreamy and whimsical. In order to achieve this I first wanted to pick the colors. From feedback received I decided purple would be the right choice and from many overlays and techniques I landed on these dreamy purple colors progressively getting lighter or shining.

I added in stars to bring shine and light to guide the viewer through as well as imagery such as a needle and thread, a doily, and lace to push the fashion theme.

Next step was creating the pamphlet. I wanted to provide a clear concise layout for the audience while incorporating the themes from the poster.

Promotional Graphics

Throughout the process of creating the graphics and branding for the fashion show I as well created promotional graphics. These graphics were for different reasons such as a flyer for volunteer’s, photographer’s, or makeup artists to come help with the show.
